Matt is a large loss defence specialist who has represented a number of the UK’s top 10 insurers in a wide variety of matters, predominantly relating to motor risks. He joined Keoghs as a Partner in 2016 and, in his previous role, held a key account management position. Matt also handled a full case load of catastrophic and sub-catastrophic injury cases, mainly involving life changing orthopaedic and brain injuries, together with ‘chronic pain’ type claims. Matt has particular expertise in dealing with cases pleaded in the £500,000 - £1.5 million range, especially those potentially involving an element of exaggeration. He also heads a team of dedicated sub-catastrophic lawyers.
Despite initially qualifying as a claimant solicitor, Matt chose to specialise in the defendant insurance sector from 2010 onwards. He has considerable litigation experience and has taken cases to the High Court and Court of Appeal. He is regularly instructed to assist in disputes which require a bespoke approach.
