David’s core specialisms are disease and legacy, liability claims and health & safety. He is a solicitor advocate with rights of audience in Scotland’s highest civil courts. For over 10 years, he has acted for insurers and self-insured corporate clients, and has established an excellent track record, including the recent successful defence of an employers’ liability stair fall case and the first reported decision of its kind in the new All Scotland Personal Injury Court.
His experience includes a wide variety of disease claims (particularly asbestos related, dermatitis and NIHL). David is also instructed in sensitive cases featuring historic abuse. He has acted for uninsured corporates, insurers and claims handlers dealing with scheme administrations and run-off. Due to his specialist knowledge of the jurisdiction, David is often instructed pre-litigation following first notification.
David represents insureds who are subject to regulatory investigation, enforcement and prosecution by COPFS, HSE, MCA, and local authorities. He has acted for clients at criminal trial and pursuing the appeal of Notices before the Employment Tribunal.
